Lance Krueger is one of the top Whitetail Deer and Wild Turkey photographers in the world.
As a native Texan, Lance is a full-time professional photographer and outdoor writer who travels extensively photographing wildlife, hunting and fishing scenes throughout North America. Lance's extensive photographic coverage of the Whitetail Deer and Wild Turkeys for over 30 years includes more states and provinces than any other professional photographer, and he has photographically captured whitetail deer and wild turkeys doing, literally, everything whitetail deer and wild turkeys do.
Lance holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business Marketing from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Lance lives in his hometown of McAllen with his wife Deborah, daughters Elizabeth, Caroline, and Lorien, and son, Joseph. McAllen is at the southern most point in Texas just along the Rio Grande River and is only eight miles north of Mexico. This is the area of the famed "South Texas Brush Country" where the Whitetail Bucks grow to enormous proportions and the Diamondback Rattlesnakes grow even larger!
South Texas is where Lance started his photography career over 25 years ago photographing wildlife, where everything either "bites, pokes or stings ya." However, most of what Lance photographs now are trophy whitetail deer, wild turkeys, Largemouth Bass, and the Sportsmen who pursue the largest of these species, while traveling extensively across the United States and Canada throughout the year. Lance has hundreds of thousands of slides and over 2 Million digital images of wildlife, hunters and fishermen in action. Of all the species in North America Lance has photographed, his passion is photographing the biggest Whitetail Bucks and Boss Gobblers he can find. However, he has photos of many other species as well as hunting and fishing scenes which you will find on this website and in the pages of the most prestigious hunting and fishing publications in North America.
As a student of hunting, fishing, and wildlife behavior throughout his life, showing these subjects in an accurate light is a hallmark of Lance's photos. Specifically, Lance attributes his success photographing whitetail deer and wild turkeys to his lifelong study of the animal at close quarters. Much time is spent in blinds observing trophy whitetail bucks and big Toms that are totally unmolested and going about their normal behavior, on their level, at the close range photography demands - something most hunters never get to experience. Lance has spent so much time with trophy bucks close up, that he knows what whitetail deer are going to do before the deer themselves know they are going to do it. This is why he is able to capture such awesome behavior and action in these incredible animals. Lance is also the only photographer to have professionally and extensively photographed the "Royal Slam" of wild turkeys, which are five of the six subspecies of wild turkeys in the world: Eastern, Rio Grande, Osceola, Merriams, and Goulds. Lance is able to share the seldom seen behaviors he's observed in trophy whitetail deer and turkeys, with hunters and wildlife viewers, bringing his subjects to life through his published photos in the national hunting and conservation magazines, and on Social Media. His dedication, love and passion for Whitetail Deer, wild Turkeys and Largemouth Bass, the art of photography, and conservation have earned him high regard in his field.
Now considered one of the top Whitetail Deer and Wild Turkey photographers in the world, Lance has had thousands of his photos appear on the covers and inside most of the national hunting and fishing magazines; as well as articles he writes for books and magazines. His photos are a mainstay on the covers for the top hunting and fishing magazines such as Field & Stream, and Outdoor Life, Petersen's Bowhunting, Buckmasters, Deer & Deer Hunting, Bowhunting World, Gamekeepers, Whitetail Journal, etc.
Lance's photos have also appeared nationally and internationally in books, calendars, brochures, advertisements, websites, apparel, catalogs, products, packaging, artist renderings, and even billboards for some of the top companies around the world. His photos have also won numerous first place prizes in several national photography contests. However, these days Lance has been asked to attend as a judge across the US rather than as a competitor. In addition, Lance has been the featured speaker at venues around the United States about his photography career and techniques, as well as, his knowledge of the Whitetail Deer and their behavior. Through his innovative photography style and published work, Lance has created a high demand for his photography by supplying incredible images to his clients locally, nationally, and internationally.
